Lebanon files complaint to UN Security Council over Israeli attacks on journalists, paramedics

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates  in the caretaker Lebanese government announced that, after consultation and coordination with the Ministry of Information, it had submitted a complaint to the UN Security Council, through the Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations in New York, regarding the recent Israeli attacks that targeted journalists, paramedics and civilians.
“The repeated Israeli targeting of media figures and facilities constitutes war crimes that require Israel to be held accountable and punished for them”, The ministry said in the complaint.
It pointed out that” this targeting  undermines the foundations of a free press, most importantly enhancing the safety of journalists and the free flow of information, and constitutes an attempt to terrorize and intimidate all journalists working to cover the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, especially after the success of the free press in conveying the truth about the crimes, massacres, and flagrant violations of international law, international humanitarian law, and human rights committed by Israel.”
The complaint called on the member states of the Security Council to take effective steps to achieve an immediate ceasefire and stop the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon and its people, including civilians, journalists and paramedics.
A few days ago, an Israeli attack on southern Lebanon led to the martyrdom of photographers Wissam Qassem and Ghassan Najjar and technician Mohammed Reda, in addition to the injury of a number of journalists and photographers.
