DAMASCUS, Oct.26, (ST)- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh had a phone call on Saturday with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, in which he renewed Syria’s condemnation of the blatant Israeli aggression that took place at dawn today against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Sabbagh expressed Syria’s strong solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the government and people, in the face of the aggression it was subjected to, stressing that this aggression represents a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and a violation of the UN Charter, supporting Iran’s right to defend itself and protect its lands and the lives of its citizens.
For his part, Araqchi expressed his appreciation for Syria’s firm position in condemning the Israeli aggression, stressing the importance of the two countries standing together in confronting it, and affirming his country’s support for Syria against any Israeli aggression on its territory.
The two ministers stressed the need to work with other countries, in order to put an end to this ongoing Israeli aggression against the countries and peoples of the region, and to bring the perpetrators of the crimes of Israeli aggression to justice, hold them accountable for their crimes, and ensure that they do not escape punishment.
