Lebanon… New Statistics of the Health Sector Victims Due to Israeli Aggression

The Minister of Health in the Lebanese caretaker government, Dr. Firas al-Abyad, announced that the number of victims of the health and hospital sector due to the targeting of the Israeli enemy has increased to 163 martyrs and 272 wounded.

During a press conference today, Al-Abyad stressed that the Israeli attacks on health workers and health facilities constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which provide for the protection of civilians, health workers and medical facilities in times of conflict.

The minister explained that 55 attacks on hospitals were recorded, including 36 direct targets, causing the forced closure of 8 hospitals and partial work in 7 hospitals, 201 attacks on ambulance associations, 158 attacks on ambulances, 47 on fire trucks and 51 on rescue vehicles.

He called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in applying international humanitarian law and hold Israeli officials accountable for violations and ensure that such atrocities are not repeated. “Impunity leads to more future violations and similar attacks can only be prevented through accountability.” he said.
