Putin: The Root Cause of What is Happening in Gaza is Non-establishment of a Palestinian State and non-Implementation of Relevant International Resolutions
Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the root cause of what is happening in the Gaza Strip is the lack of an independent and full Palestinian state and the failure to implement the relevant international resolutions.
Russia Today quoted Putin as saying at a press conference at the conclusion of the sixteenth BRICS summit in Kazan yesterday: “most of those who lost their lives during the war on the Gaza Strip are women and children.”
“There is no person on earth whose heart does not bleed when he/she looks at what is happening in Gaza… More than 40 thousand people have died, and these are mostly women and children,” he added.
Putin stressed that from Russia’s point of view, this conflict can be resolved only after its causes are eliminated, the main reason of which is the absence of a full state of Palestine… “We need to implement all Security Council resolutions in this context,” he said.
Expressing serious concern about what is happening in the Middle East, Putin added that Moscow does not want to aggravate the conflict in the region, and everyone should work to prevent its escalation and extension.
Putin said during the expanded BRICS meeting: “The humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip is an exceptional and unprecedented situation that requires solidarity with the Palestinian people. We must do our utmost to achieve the goal of establishing an independent Palestinian State.
The 16th BRICS Summit, chaired by Russia and with the participation of about 40 countries, concluded yesterday in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. This summit is the first after 5 new countries joined the BRICS group since the beginning of this year.
