The Speaker of the Russian State Duma (Parliament) Vyacheslav Volodin stressed today that the plan of Washington and Brussels to isolate Russia has failed, and that all countries want to live in a fair and multipolar world.
Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel, commenting on the BRICS summit in Kazan, the capital of Russian Tatarstan, “The plan of Washington and Brussels to isolate Russia has failed, and it has become a place of attraction. We can see that the wide representation speaks of the influence of BRICS on the world stage.”
Volodin added: “These days, responsible decisions are being made at the Kazan summit in Russia and on its sidelines,” explaining that “the economies of the BRICS countries, which represent almost half of the world’s population, are developing at an accelerated pace and demonstrating sustainability. Their share of global GDP will reach 36.7 percent by the end of the year, which is confidently exceeding the share of the G7, and this gap will widen further.”
Volodin noted that the high level of recognition of the role of BRICS in the world is confirmed by the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the Kazan summit, which has a central role in maintaining peace and security.
It is noteworthy that the BRICS group includes Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa.
This year, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia joined it, and there are currently more than 30 other countries that are showing interest in one way or another in membership or cooperation with it.
