Cuban Embassy in Damascus celebrates Cuban Culture Day

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Damascus held a ceremony on Tuesday  on the occasion of the Cuban Culture Day, in the presence of cultural, media, academic and diplomatic personalities.

Cuban Culture Day, celebrated on October the 20th of each year, is a symbol of the birth of the rebellious nation, the date on which the Cuban national anthem was composed and sung, publicly and for the first time.
“Celebrating the Cuban Culture Day in a country like Syria has many meanings and important dimensions for the Syrian and Cuban peoples, especially since culture is an important element in the resistance approach and it helps in the struggle for freedom and protecting the sovereignty, belonging and cultural identity of the two countries,” the Cuban Ambassador Luis Mariano Fernandez Rodriguez said in a statement to a SANA reporter.
He added: “In the light of the circumstances that Cuba and Syria are going through, culture has a major role because it means resistance and belief in victory.
For his part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Brazil to Syria Andre Dos Santos said in a similar statement that culture is an important factor for all countries because it is a tool for reconstruction and a means through which people communicate with their roots and history, and celebrating culture comes through strengthening national belonging.
The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Damascus, Jose Gregorio Biomorgi Musates, noted  that celebrating the Day of Culture is of great importance and is an expression of solidarity with Cuba which spreads peace and love, unlike the United States of America, which promotes and incites wars in the world.
The celebration included the display of several visual materials about the cultural life in Cuba, and the opening of an art exhibition that included a collection of art and sculpture works by the Syrian artists Ammar Al-Shawa and Manar Al-Hassan, and by the young Cuban artist Pedro Naddaf.
