Minister Kharita discusses with the UN Resident Coordinator for Development Activities efforts to respond to the needs of arrivals from Lebanon

Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Louay Kharita, discussed with the Resident Coordinator for the United Nations Development and Humanitarian Activities, Adam Abdel Mawla, and his accompanying delegation, ways to support the Syrian government’s efforts in the humanitarian response to arrivals from Lebanon and to developing recovery projects to enable the safe return of Syrian refugees.

Minister Kharita pointed out that the Ministry and the Supreme Relief Committee will provide  support and facilities to implement livelihood and recovery projects in various sectors, to facilitate the sustainable return of Syrians to their homeland, which is complementary to the measures taken by the Syrian government to prepare the legal, legislative, and administrative environment required for their return.

The Minister discussed the measures taken by the Syrian government to respond urgently to arrivals from Lebanon, secure their humanitarian needs, and open shelter centers. He indicated the continuation of coordination efforts with national partners and United Nations organizations to secure an organized response to arrivals from Lebanon.
