World Health Organization: Israel Prevents us From Entering Northern Gaza Strip for Polio Vaccination

The World Health Organization announced that Israel’s occupation entity is preventing its crew from entering the northern Gaza Strip to vaccinate children against polio.

WHO Regional Emergency Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Rick Brennan told a press conference that WHO has successfully vaccinated children under 10 against polio in the central and southern Gaza Strip, , but now it needs to organize a new round of vaccinations, however, it has not yet got permission for its staff to enter the northern Gaza Strip.

The organization said in a report yesterday: “Israeli evacuation orders and military attacks in the Gaza Strip, which have intensified in recent weeks, have severely disrupted humanitarian operations, and frequent displacements have undermined the population’s ability to adapt and access food, water and medicine, exacerbating the situation.

World Health Organization Condemns the Israeli Ban on Medical Professionals Entering Gaza Strip

In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) condemned the Israeli occupation entity’s ban on medical professionals entering the Gaza Strip in order to support the operation of its medical clinics.

“Eight organizations and more than 50 specialized staff have been affected since August by Israel’s ongoing blockade of the Strip,” the organization said in a statement today, adding that specialists were to provide vital support to various medical services, as well as psychological support to health care workers in facilities such as the European Gaza Hospital and Nasser Hospital.

The Palestinian American Medical Association, a non-profit that supports Palestinians in need of medical care, is among the organizations that have been banned from entering Gaza.

The World Health Organization (WHO) noted that this is the first time that “Israel” prevents entire organizations from participating in relief efforts for the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the indispensable role of these outside teams in the provision of basic medical services.

WHO called for full permission for emergency relief teams to enter Gaza.
