PM chairs the meeting of  Supreme Relief Committee to offer aid to people who come from Lebanon

DAMASCUS, Oct.12, (ST)- Today, Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Relief in the headquarters of the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment

During the meeting, the mechanisms of the continuity of  providing support and assistance to the people, who arrived  from Lebanon and putting logistical and health facilities at their service and providing relief and food aid according to the mechanism adopted by the government, in coordination between the Supreme Committee for Relief and the sub-committees in the governorates and various partners from the local complex and non-governmental and international organizations were discussed.

The meeting also reviewed international cooperation projects between ministries and non-governmental agencies, existing relief projects, the progress of their implementation, and the possibilities of accelerating procedures related to them in coordination between ministries and concerned authorities, in a way that serves needs in accordance with national priorities and improves the reality of services in the fields of water, sanitation, environment, and health.

“Our country has been exposed to great difficulties, and just as we have contributed with the international community in solving many crises, it is natural for it to help us in solving problems of a humanitarian nature,” the premier said.

It is noteworthy that the total number of people who came from Lebanon exceeded 396,164 people, including 281,142 Syrians and 115,022 Lebanese.
