A year has passed since the crime of cutting off the water of Allouk pumping station to the people of Al-Hasakah Governorate

A year has passed since the crime of cutting off the water supply of the Allouk water pumping station in the countryside of Ras al-Ain city by the Turkish occupation forces and the terrorist organizations affiliated with them present in the region to nearly one million citizens of the city of Al-Hasakah and the western countryside. The suffering of securing drinking water for Al-Hasakah residents has worsened due to the interruption of their only source of water.

The Director General of the Water Corporation, Engineer Mohammad Othman, stated that government efforts are continuing to mitigate the effects of the stoppage of the Allouk water station from operating, which is entering its second year, as the Water Corporation, in cooperation with a number of humanitarian organizations and bodies, seeks to secure the needs of the people for drinking water on a daily basis through various methods.

Othman pointed out that the corporation, in cooperation with a number of humanitarian organizations, has deployed 591 large tanks in the streets and gardens of Al-Hasakah city and its surroundings, and is working to fill them with clean and sterilized drinking water on a daily basis from water wells near the city, in order to secure the needs of the people. The Corporation continuously seeks to increase the number of these tanks, and thus increase the quantities of water provided to the people.

The Corporation Director pointed out that there are currently eight desalination stations in service in different areas of the city of Al-Hasakah to produce quantities of drinking water, in addition to what is provided through tanks spread in the streets, indicating that a number of desalination stations have stopped working, due to the drying up of the surface wells that feed them, and the institution is currently working to cooperate with some international organizations, with the aim of digging new wells for the stopped stations so as to produce water and put them back into service. It is noteworthy that the Turkish occupation forces and terrorist organizations that are spread in the far western countryside of Al-Hasakah Governorate, where the wells and the Allouk station are located, have targeted the energy carriers that feed the station with electricity a year ago, and are still preventing the workshops and workers of the Water Corporation from entering the station, re-operating it, and performing the necessary maintenance on its equipment.
