Lebanese army: Our forces are deployed throughout the country to be steadfast in the face of aggression

BEIRUT, Oct.8, (ST)- The Lebanese army confirmed that its forces are deployed throughout the country, including the country’s southern borders, and that the army’s priority is to be steadfast in the face of aggression and to support its citizens.

The Lebanese Army Command said in a statement released today, and published by the Lebanese National News Agency: “In the light of the barbaric and increasing attacks by the Israeli enemy on various Lebanese regions, and  deaths, injuries and great destruction, the Army Command is keen to clarify that the Lebanese Army is deployed throughout the country, including the southern borders, and assumes its national responsibilities, offers martyrs and maintains its readiness to defend the land within the available capabilities, based on the decisions of the political authority and its directives to do what it deems appropriate, in order to protect Lebanon and the military institution and to adhere to Resolution 1701 and its provisions in close coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The statement added: “Some media outlets are deliberately launching campaigns of slander, fabrications and accusations of treason against the military institution and its leadership, in the service of narrow interests and political goals. Here, the army leadership confirms that it will not enter into arguments, and that the priority today for the leadership is to protect the institution, maintain its cohesion, stop the aggression, support citizens, keep pace with the displacement crisis and continue rescue operations in coordination with the relevant agencies.”

The statement explained that the army is the institution that forms the backbone of Lebanon, which confirms the importance of supporting it.
