PROVINCES,(ST)_Dozens of children have been victims of today’s terrorist attacks in Damascus and  countryside, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency reported that two shells- fired by terrorist- struck the ‘al-Manar’ Basic Education School in Bab Tuma quarter and Schools Complex near Mar Elias Church in al-Dwel’a quarter in Damascus province.

At least a child was martyred and 60 other civilians, mostly children, wounded by the mortar attacks that hit the schools, the health minister declared.

Officials visit wounded students and teachers

Dr. Sa’ad al-Nayef , who visited the wounded civilians that were admitted to the French Hospital, told reporters that  five public and private hospitals received those who were wounded by the mortar attacks and provided them with the necessary medical services.

“Emergency wards are ready to deal with all cases despite the challenges that face the health sector in the current circumstances,” al-Nayef said.

More remarks on the mortar attacks were made by the education minister, Dr. Hazwan al-Wez, and bishop Joseph Arna’ot , who also visited the wounded children and teachers  and inspected the damages caused to the ‘al-Manar’ school in Bab Tuma quarter.

Dr. Al-Wez said: “The vile shell, fired by the obscurantist callers on schools, is not the first one,” calling on the international organizations to sent delegations to Syria to see the criminal acts that target innocent students.

“The criminal terrorist attacks are retaliatory acts agianst the Syrian Arab army’s victories at all fronts,” the minister added.

On his part, the bishop Arna’ot prayed for Syria’s salvation.

Some four shells hit al-Dekhaneyeh quarter

Back to the other terrorist attacks that took place elsewhere, the agency said that terrorists launched four shells on al-Dekhaneyeh quarter in Damascus countryside where about two civilians were martyred and 5 others wounded.
