22 Palestinian films under the theme “Gaza, Point Zero” will be screened on October 7 at Oran Film Festival
The General Cinema Organization is participating in the Oran International Arab Film Festival, which will be held between October 4 and 10.
This edition celebrates the first anniversary of the Palestinian resistance “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation on October 7, in a special event entitled ““Zero Distance… From Gaza to Oran”.
On this occasion, the film ““Gaza, Point Zero” will be screened, in which 22 directors from Gaza will contribute to the event through 22 short films collected by the Gazan director Rashid Masharawi.
Syria is participating in the short narrative film competition through the film “Scrap”, produced by the national Film Organization. It is written and directed by Firas Muhammad and talks about a man who returns to his village where the war ended, accompanied by his donkey, to start a new life there.
It stars Yazan Al-Rishani, Saeed Abdul Salam, Muhammad Zarzur, Thuraya Muhammad, Khoshnaf Zaza, Duraid Rahhal, and Mustafa Atoum.
The festival competitions include 11 feature films, 14 short films, 10 feature documentaries, and 8 short films.
The jury is headed by Algerian actor Sami Bouajila, Syrian director Jude Saeed, and Iraqi director Abbas Fadel.
The festival includes a group of cultural events and activities, including honoring Arab and international cinematic figures. This session will also celebrate the Iraqi seventh art, where five Iraqi films will be screened in a program titled “A Look at Iraqi Cinema.”
The festival also includes three sections: “Oran Documentaries,” “The Red Carpet,” and “Oran Classics,” in addition to holding workshops in acting, technical editing, and a “Master Class” led by director Rashid Bouchareb and Lebanese critic Ibrahim Al-Aris.
Syria is scheduled to participate in the festival in the two sections of Oran Classics, where it will present the film “The Deceived,” which was produced by the National Film Organization in 1974 and directed by the Egyptian Tawfiq Saleh.
As for the Oran Documentary Section, the feature documentary film “I am Youssef, My Father,” directed by Mohamed Malas, will participate.
