FM Statement: Syria Holds US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Terrorist Organizations Responsible for Chemical Weapons Crimes
DAMASCUS,(ST)_ In two identical letters to the UN Secretary -General and President of the UN Security Council yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed that countries partners in the conspiracy against Syria, particularly the US, France, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have sought since the beginning of the crisis to create pretexts justifying continued aggression against Syria, noting the unjust campaign led by those countries when accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons in East Gouta massacre on 08,21,2013, which claimed the lives of dozens of Syrians.
The FM statement explained that after less than a year of this terrorist crime several studies, reports and documented researches appeared, confirming the involvement of the U.S. administration, Turkey and other countries, directly and indirectly, in this heinous crime and other crimes that took place in Syria, including Khan al-Asal massacre on 15,03,2013.
In this context, the ministry noted the prolonged investigative report by the US Journalist Seymour Hirsch, published few days ago in London’s Journal” Review of Books” which revealed that the Turkish government was behind Eastern Ghouta crime and other crimes such as Khan al-Asal and that the U.S. administration manipulated the evidence proving that al-Qaeda affiliated al-Nusra front was behind it in order to justify the U.S. aggression on Syria. Hirsch confirmed that he has documents proving the validity of the published information, while the well-known British writer Robert Fisk confirmed in an article published in the British “ The Independent “ on Friday 11/04/2014 Hirsch ‘s findings, besides both the British writer Patrick Cockburn in an article published in the “ Independent newspaper on Sunday” on 13, 4, 2014 and the US veterans Today “online” several days ago confirmed the findings of Hirsch and Fisk, especially in terms of the involvement of Turkey and the US support for al-Nusra Front terrorist and coverage of its crimes in East Gouta and other places in Syria in using sarin gas and other toxic substances.
The ministry added that Syria holds the US administration, the government of Turkey, Israel, and Saudi Arabia and the terrorist organizations fully responsible for the crimes committed previously by using chemical weapons in Syria or that might be committed against the Syrian people, including what happened recently in Kafr Zeta.
“Putting this information before the UN Security Council and the international community, Syria is urging them to assume their responsibilities in accordance with the Security Council resolutions on counter-terrorism, especially resolutions 1373 of 2001, 1267, 1999, No. 3314 / D / 29 / for 1974 resolution and No. 2625 / D / 25/ 1970, and to pursue these countries involved in committing these crimes, especially the US, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, France and to stop supporting terrorist groups, and demanding them to stop these violations which threaten peace and security in Syria and the region,” the statement said, stressing Syria ‘s re- emphasize on the need to evacuate the Middle East from all weapons of mass destruction, and to comply by their legal obligations under ratified international conventions and protocols, including the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
