Chinese Embassy in Damascus holds a reception on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China

The Chinese Embassy in Syria held a reception on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus. The reception was attended by senior Syrian officials, as well as some ambassadors accredited in Syria, businessmen, journalusts and many guests.

His Excellency, Mr. Shi Hongwei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Syria  said in his speech: It is my pleasure to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with you.

I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all guests, my sincere festival greetings to all overseas Chinese in Syria, and heartfelt thanks to all friends who have contributed to the China-Syria friendship!

Over the past 75 years, the Communist Party of China has led the Chinese people in forging ahead, successfully embarking on a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and creating two miracles: rapid economic development and long-term social stability.

In just a few decades, we completed the industrialization process that took developed countries hundreds of years, becoming the world’s second-largest economy, with a contribution to the world economy exceeding 30% for consecutive years.

We have transitioned from extreme poverty to building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, lifting nearly 100 million people out of poverty and contributing more than 70% to global poverty reduction.

Over the past 75 years, China has stood with other countries in times of common destiny, continuously expanding its “circle of friends,” playing an increasingly important role on the world stage, and becoming a practitioner of peaceful coexistence and a defender of fairness and justice.

We have always taken the path of peaceful development, committed to mutually beneficial cooperation and common development with all countries, advocating for an equal and orderly multipolar world and an inclusive economic globalization that benefits all.

We are committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind. Under this important conceptual framework, President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, providing Chinese solutions to common problems facing humanity and receiving broad support from countries worldwide.

In May, the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum was successfully held, demonstrating the friendly spirit of “mutual assistance, equality and mutual benefit, inclusiveness and mutual learning,” further advancing the construction of a China-Arab community with a shared future.

At present, the spillover effect of Gaza conflict has led to further instability in the regional situation. China is deeply concerned about the escalation of tensions. China is willing to work with all peace-loving and justice-advocating countries, including Arab countries, to make unremitting efforts to quell the war as soon as possible, prevent the spillover of the conflict, implement the “two-state solution” and promote peace in the Middle East.

In July, the Communist Party of China held the successful Third Plenary Session of its 20th Central Committee, laying out systematic plans for further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization.

The Chinese people will embark on a new journey of Chinese modernization with a more open and confident attitude and a more proactive and enterprising posture. China will inject more stability, certainty, and development momentum into the world through its own development, providing broader opportunities for cooperation and development for countries worldwide.

China and Syria are friends, partners, and brothers, sharing a deep traditional friendship. Despite the ever-changing international and regional situation, the friendship between our two countries has grown stronger over time and withstood various tests.

We have always trusted and supported each other, and our peoples are full of respect and love for one another. I would like to reiterate that China firmly supports Syria in opposing external interference, unilateral bullying, safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, supporting Syria in reconstruction, strengthening counter-terrorism capabilities, and playing a greater role in international and regional affairs.

Last September, President Xi Jinping held a historic meeting with President Bashar al-Assad, jointly announcing the establishment of the China-Syria strategic partnership, promoting China-Syria cooperation into a new era.

This year, the first batch of communication equipment donated by the Chinese government was delivered to Syria at the beginning of the year, and the second project of communication equipment is being accelerated at full speed.

Our two countries enjoy close exchanges between personnel at all levels and in all fields. Going forward, China is willing to work with Syria to promote the strategic partnership to new heights.

The pursuit of modernization by China and Syria will surely add luster to the modernization of the “Global South” and write a new chapter in building a community with a shared future for mankind. I believe that with the joint care of our leaders and the cultivation of our peoples, the seeds of China-Syria friendship will surely blossom into gorgeous flowers!

Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, the Special Advisor to the Presidency of the Syrian Republic, said in a statement to journalists that China believes in the freedom and dignity of peoples and has no colonial history. She stressed that the current Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, Lebanon and the region has two goals: the first is the Zionization of the region and the second is to maintain Western hegemony and centrality that wants to maintain its control in the world in order to be able to continue plundering peoples.

In his Turn, The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib stressed that Syrian-Chinese relations are old and have been strengthened through mutual official visits between the two sides and the signing of a large package of agreements that played a major role in deepening aspects of strategic cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and tourism fields.
