DAMASCUS, HOMS, (ST)-A delegation of International Peace Supporters yesterday visited the cities of Homs and Damascus to express their solidarity with Syria against the ongoing foreign-backed terrorist war targeting the Syrian people and state.
During their visit to Homs, members of the delegation affirmed the need to convey the real image of what is really going on in Syria to the whole world, particularly to the countries supporting terrorism and extremism.
Head of the delegation Mairead Maguir said “the aim of our visit is to enhance humanitarian solidarity with the Syrian people and support them in their confrontation of the terrorist crimes perpetrated by armed groups who seek destroying this beautiful country.”
“Peace-loving people came from all over the world to express their rejection of the atrocities being committed by terrorists against the Syrian people and to back national reconciliation efforts aiming to restore security and stability to Syria,” she added.
Maguir urged terrorism supporting countries, which train, arm and send terrorists to Syria to stop this support as it increases the suffering of the Syrian people and sheds more Syrian blood.
Member of the delegation, activist “Diklan Hiz” from Britain, said “our visit to Homs is important as this city is the first to be exposed to severest takfiri terrorism.”
“Takfiris should leave Syria and go home because the Syrians are civilized and peace-loving people. They will firmly and strongly fight terrorism until normal life is restored to Syria,” he stressed, pointing out that he will convey the right image of what is really going in Syria to the British people and politicians.
“The Syrian Arab Army is fighting for humanity and civilization and is facing a global war waged on the country,” he asserted.
Other activists in the peace mission affirmed that Syria’s enemies are targeting the Syrian people. They stressed that terrorism in Syria has been instigated by Saudi Arabia, Qatar plus Turkey and led by America, Israel and the West. They expressed hope that peace will return to Syria soon to help the Syrian people start reconstructing what terrorism has damaged.
They pointed out their visit to Homs indicated that the crisis in Syria “has no religious or sectarian roots, but political origins caused by America and Zionism.”
The delegation visited several Homs places that were the target of mortar attacks and terrorist bombings which claimed the lives of many civilians including children, women and elderly.

“Syria should stay as the home of tolerance and coexistence,” said Mother Agnis, a leading member of the Peace Supporters delegation, expressing her sorrow over the destruction caused to the houses of innocent people by the terrorist groups’ acts.
The media coordinator of the peace supporters’ team Kawthar al-Bishrawi said “many of the international peace activists come to Syria for the first time. We want them to be witnesses to reality, because our voice, as Arabs, hasn’t reached the world due to the policies of the western media which insists on falsifying fact.”
In Damascus, the International Peace Supporters delegation had the opportunity to meet Syria’s Grand Mufti Badreddin Hassoun, Tourism Minister Bishr Yaziji and Patriarch Gregory III Lahham of Antioch and All East for Melkite Greek Catholic.
During the meeting, the delegation was urged tell the world that after three years of global war on Syria, the Syrian people, army and President are still strong and are more unified in the face of foreign-backed terrorist groups coming from 83 countries to kill the Syrians.
