Prime Minister urges providing support and assistance to those displaced due to the Israeli aggression on Lebanon

Following up on the repercussions of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Lebanese prople, and the Zionist enemy’s incessant crimes against civilians, and the resulting movement of displacement towards the Syrian territory, Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali chaired a meeting today with a number of concerned ministers to discuss providing all support and assistance to the displaced Lebanese citizens who fled to Syria due to the brutal Israeli aggression, and to put logistical, medical and health capabilities at their service in coordination and cooperation between the various ministries and relevant public and private bodies.

Dr. Al-Jalali listened to the Minister of Interior, Major General Mohammad Al-Rahmoun, and the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Engineer Louay Kharita, about the results of their field visit to the Syrian-Lebanese border and their observations and suggestions, including the necessity of providing border crossings and centers with the required equipment and supplies to ensure the smooth running of work.

Minister of Health Ahmad Dmiriyeh reviewed the measures taken by the public health sector to deal with all incoming cases and provide health and medical care of all kinds to those in need, and gradually raise the medical readiness of hospitals.

Emphasis was put on the need to take necessary measures to open shelters across the national geography when needed, and to provide the displaced with all necessary supplies of water, food, and accommodation requirements, at the level of each governorate concerned with the issue of displaced Lebanese brothers arriving in Syria, or Syrians returning from Lebanon, in addition to securing the necessary means of transportation and providing all facilities for the arrivals at the border centers.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to prepare the rapid aid system at the border centers, and to deploy the available material and human medical capabilities to treat the wounded and the injured, and any other cases, while placing public and private hospitals and medical centers at the highest level of readiness and securing life-saving medicines, stressing the provision of all facilities to bring medical and relief aid through Syrian territory to Lebanon.

It was also emphasized that the Supreme Relief Committee and the sub-committees in the governorates must be put on alert to deal with any emergency situations, in parallel with the readiness of the relevant service and health authorities in the governorates bordering Lebanon.

Coordination and cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and civil society organizations was also emphasized to provide assistance and benefit from the logistical capabilities available.

The Ministers pointed to the importance of the role of economic, commercial and community activities in receiving the displaced Lebanese and providing them with all possible assistance.
