Syria, Iraq Discuss Trade Exchange

BAGHDAD, (ST) – Head of the Syrian Federation of Exporters Mohammed al -Sawah and his accompanying delegation recently met here president the Iraqi Federation of Chambers of Commerce Jaafar al-Hamdani. The two sides discussed ways to improve economic and trade relations between Syria and Iraq and to improve mechanisms of enhancing trade exchange between the two countries.

During the meeting that took place on the sidelines of the Baghdad International Fair of Flowers, the two sides agreed on setting up a series of fairs for Syrian businessmen in Iraq including textiles, clothing, flowers, medicines and leather with the support of the Iraqi Federation.

It was also agreed on mapping out resolutions that will facilitate the movement of businessmen and facilitate their access to visas and the development of a hotline between the Syrian and Iraqi sides to find out the problems of industrialists and traders and work to resolve them through coordination between the two parties, in addition to organizing a Syrian-Iraqi body In Damascus aiming at expanding the horizons of Syrian exports to Iraq.

The Syrian pavilion of the Baghdad International Fair of Flowers included 20 products on an area of 30 thousand square meters and the aim of this participation is to obtain contracts for planting and cultivation of gardens and the flats of Baghdad and a number of other cities.
