80 women showcase their industrial products and handicrafts in Ibn al-Walid and al-Shahbaa Exhibition in Homs

With the participation of 80 women, the activities of Ibn al-Walid and al-Shahbaa Exhibition, which is held by the Businesswomen Committee in Aleppo Chamber of Industry in cooperation with Homs Chambers of Commerce and Industry, opened on Wednesday with the aim of selling the women’s industrial products and handicrafts directly from the producer to the consumer in the exhibition city in al-Waer neighborhood.

The exhibition, which lasts for four days, includes 65 pavilions presenting  handicrafts such as embroidery, crochet, straw, clothing, decorative accessories, glass painting, woodwork, candle making, Aleppo soap, natural cosmetics, beadwork, some food products, detergents and school supplies.

Head of Aleppo Chamber of Industry, Engineer Fares al-Shahabi underlined the importance of the exhibition as it brings together a number of businesswomen in the provinces of Aleppo and Homs, which allows for the exchange of experiences and the opening of new markets for their products. He noted that the exhibition focuses on small, medium and micro enterprises that have benefited from soft loans because it provides them with marketing opportunities and appropriate support. He highlighted the necessity of providing a legislative and legal environment for these projects to license their work.

Al-Shahabi praised the efforts made by Homs Chambers of Commerce and Industry to make the exhibition a success, stressing that the experience will be generalized to the rest of the governorates.

Head of Homs Chamber of Commerce, Iyad Daraq Al-Sibai, stated that the idea of ​​the exhibition was presented by the Businesswomen Committee of Aleppo Chamber of Industry with the aim of supporting small and medium enterprises for female producers and spreading their products in Homs, noting the large participation in the exhibition and its distinction in handicrafts, Aleppo embroidery and soap, and the presence of some successful experiences from Aleppo that found strong opportunities for export. He stressed that the prices of the exhibition’s products are competitive with the market and the demand for it has been good since the first day.

Secretary of the Businesswomen Committee of Aleppo Chamber of Industry, Rasha Daniel, stated that this is the first participation outside Aleppo and will be followed by other participations in the rest of the governorates with the aim of opening new markets for small and medium enterprises and offering their products at prices that are competitive with the market and suitable for the purchasing power of the citizen. She noted that the number of participating women from Aleppo reached 60 women who showed through their products what Aleppo is famous for, whether in clothing, soap and others.

Sidra Al-Nasser, a participant from Homs, pointed out that the company seeks through this participation to introduce its products and their competitive prices.

From Aleppo, chemist Bana Hamza pointed out that she participated in the exhibition with natural products made by her for hair, skin and body care with the aim of expanding the scope of work and introducing her products. Nadia Naib said that she works in bridal equipment and that the exhibition represents an important opportunity to learn about the experiences of other governorates and open new areas of work.

From one of the wings specialized in clothing, Ghufran Hamra saw that the exhibition represents a suitable opportunity for citizens to buy what they need at cost price because it is directly from the producer to the consumer.

Talin Makroyan, a member of the Businesswomen Committee of Aleppo Chamber of Industry, spoke about her participation with her handicrafts in mosaics and artificial stone, underlining the importance of participating in exchanging ideas and opening new markets.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Governor of Homs, Eng. Namir Makhlouf, the President of the Homs Chamber of Industry, Labib Al-Ikhwan, and a number of members of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Aleppo and Homs.
