Shaaban: There is no alternative to understandings and achieving common interests between Arab countries

Muscat, (ST)-
The Political Advisor to the Republic Presidency, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, stressed that reading the historical context of events and the beginnings of Western hegemony enables us to understand what the West and the Israeli entity are seeking, stressing that there is no alternative to understandings and achieving common interests between Arab countries to confront current challenges.
This came during a lecture by Dr. Shaaban entitled “Where is our region and the world heading and why,” which she presented today at the invitation of the Diplomatic Academy of the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Muscat.
Dr. Shaaban spoke about the necessity of reading the historical context of events to reach understanding of them currently, as knowing the beginnings of Western hegemony attempts leads us to understand what the West and the Israeli entity are seeking to achieve today.
Dr. Shaaban stressed that there is no alternative to understandings and finding common interests, because any hostility or discord between Arab countries harms everyone, stressing the necessity of working within alliances and maintaining them.
Shaaban pointed to the West’s systematic efforts to distort the image of Arab women and weaken their presence, explaining that she has always been interested in following up on the development of women’s presence in all societal and political fields at the Arab level
About the Syrian internal situation, Shaaban explained that the role of Syrian diplomatic and national cadres was very important in preserving Syria’s cohesion, noting that most of these cadres were subjected to pressure and intimidation in attempts by the West to undermine Syrian sovereignty and coexistence.
At the end of the lecture, Dr. Shaaban noted the depth and strength of Syrian-Omani relations.
