Shaaban: West continues to impose coercive measures on Syrian people due to their adherence to their independence and their country’s sovereignty.

Special Advisor at the Republic Presidency, Bouthaina Shaaban, met on Tuesday Deputy Prime Minister for Council of Ministers of Sultanate of Oman Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said in the Omani capital, Muscat, and discussed with him the current developments in the region, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.

This meeting, which took place at the Prime Ministry building, is among other political meetings held by Dr. Shaaban as part of her visit to Oman leading a Syrian delegation to participate in the activities of International Conference on Oral History organized by Wathiqat Watan foundation (Homeland Document) and the Omani National Records and Archives Authority.

The two sides discussed the current Arab situation and developments in the region, necessity of solidarity among Arab countries, and overcoming any differences to confront current challenges.

The Omani Deputy Prime Minister pointed out the necessity of benefiting from the lessons which has proved that division is harmful to the Arab world, and therefore, there must be solidarity and cooperation on all sides.

Al Said hailed the realistic and wise policy of President Bashar Al-Assad that focused on protecting and maintaining the Syrian state and its political principles.

For her part, Dr. Shaaban said that the reason for the continued imposition of western unilateral coercive measures on Syrian people is their adherence to their independent decision and their country’s sovereignty.

She pointed to the West’s role in distorting the facts with regard to the war on Syria, the dangerous role in spreading division among peoples, and West’s attempt to undermine the distinctive coexistence in many countries, including Syria.
