Miqdad: Syrian-Chinese Relations are Strategic, of Strong Will to Challenge Terrorism

Damascus, (ST)_ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad stressed that relations between Syria and the People’s Republic of China are strategic, noting the common challenges facing the two countries.

During a farewell ceremony held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates yesterday marking the end of the Chinese Ambassador Zhang Xun mission in Damascus, Miqdad said that China’s position in support of Syria represents a landmark in the history of relations between the two countries and a manifestation of a strong will to challenge terrorism.

He noted China’s commitment to international legitimacy made it honored internationally, while others follow double- standard policy, while looking for their narrow interests, at the expense of thousands of lives of our peoples, stressing Syria’s ability to withstand and thwart conspiracies.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador renewed his country’s firm support to Syria ‘s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, rejected foreign interference in its internal affairs and considered that the future of Syria must be decided by the Syrian people. He pointed out that the Syrians are, peace-loving people and do not accept the hegemony and China will continue to play a positive and constructive role in order to achieve a just solution to the crisis in Syria and honor people’s choice.

Miqdad invested ambassador Zhang Xun with the Syrian Order of Merit, at the end of his duties as ambassador to Syria.
