Syria, Oman hold talks on boosting bilateral relations

Muscat- Chairman of Omani the Shura council, Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali on Sunday met with Special Adviser at the Presidency of the Republic, Bouthaina Shaaban.

Al Maawali stressed the Omani leadership’s keenness to support and assist Syria in facing the repercussions of the war, especially the economic issue and the necessity of improving the living conditions of the Syrian people, pointing out that Oman has always been at the forefront of the countries supporting strengthening Syria’s relations with its Arab surrounding. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The two sides pointed to the importance of documentation and history in preserving the identity of the two countries and their heritage, as well as preserving the credibility of events in the region, on top, the war that took place in Syria and the genocide that is taking place against the Palestinian people.

In the same context, a message from the Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly was delivered to Al Maawali included an emphasis on the Syrian side’s keenness to communicate and cooperate between parliamentarians of the two countries and an invitation to the Omani side to visit Damascus.

In another meeting Under Secretary for Diplomatic Affairs at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa al-Harthy met Shaaban and discussed the importance of the Syrian delegation’s visit and the need for joint meetings’ repetition.

They also reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of cultural and media, and ways to boost them to serve the interests of both countries.

The International Conference on Oral History Oman will be held tomorrow Monday with the participation of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Shaaban, chairperson of the Board of Trustees of “Watan Document Foundation.
