Vienna III Talks End

Vienna – Iranian nuclear negotiation team, led by Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, left Vienna for Tehran later Wednesday night after the end of 3rd round of talks hosted by Austria.

According to the IRNA correspondent in Vienna, the third round of the 5+1 Group intensive nuclear talks with Iran, hosted by Austria, called the Vienna III talks that were held on Tuesday and Wednesday in UN Vienna Headquarters was on the entire significant and possible issues and those that had thus far not been addressed.

Thus, the two sides have apparently got ready to begin the phase of drafting the final shared deal.

Zarif said in a joint press conference with EU foreign policy Chief Catherine Ashton at the end of the Vienna III talks that just as planned in the Geneva Joint Plan of Action, during the 3rd round of talks the two sides had finished 50 to 60% of the job aimed at finding a comprehensive shared deal.

The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that there is still need to serious, intensive work aimed at resolving the remainder of the differences of opinion between the two sides, which is quite a natural thing.

ˈAt this point we enter the next phase of talks, in which our efforts will be aimed at decreasing the gap of the differences of opinion,ˈ he said.

Zarif said that Iranˈs next round of nuclear talks with the world powers will be on May 13 in Geneva, in which agreement must be reached on a package of major remaining issues which need to be included in the final agreement.

Zarif had also earlier said that a nuclear agreement can be reached within three months when the Geneva interim accord expires on July 20.

Talking to Iranian media representatives after the conclusion of the Vienna III talks, Zarif said from his view, three months gives all sides ample time to negotiate a final accord, if there is goodwill.

However, he made also clear that it would be ˈno disasterˈ if the deal takes longer to take shape.

Zarif admitted that drafting a text for a final deal would require hard work and serious efforts by all parties.

The next round of Iranˈs nuclear talks is scheduled to take place again in Vienna on May 13 as Iran and the six world powers would look at ways to overcome their differences.
