Al-Dahhak: “Our Region Faces Great Danger as the Israeli Occupation Escalates its Crimes and Attacks”

The Permanent Representative of Syria to the United Nations Ambassador Qusay al-Dahhak affirmed that the region has been for almost a year facing significant risks arising from Israel’s escalation of its crimes against the Palestinian people and its continued acts of aggression against the countries in the region, including Syria. He pointed out that the occupation would not have continued without the unlimited support and immunity of the United States and other Western countries.

Al-Dahhak said in a statement today during a meeting of the Security Council on Syria’s political and humanitarian affairs: “On September 8, the occupation entity carried out a blatant air aggression on the countryside of Hama governorate, which led to the martyrdom of 18 people and wounding of 37 others, and caused material damage to residential areas, infrastructure, electricity, communications and water networks , holding the countries supporting the occupation entity responsible for the consequences of these blatant attacks that endanger regional and international peace and security.

Al-Dahhak reaffirmed Syria’s right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, and stressed its intention to restore the occupied Golan by all means available under international law.

The permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations explained that despite the complex circumstances in the region and the serious challenges that exist, Syria continues its steps to improve the humanitarian situation, and continues its constructive cooperation with the United Nations and partners in humanitarian and development work.

He pointed out that the success of the joint UN-Syrian efforts requires that Western countries reverse their policies based on the politicization of humanitarian work, stop impedeing it, and immediately, completely and unconditionally lift the Western coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people .

Ambassador Al-Dahhak stressed Syria’s sovereign right to eliminate terrorism on its territory in all its forms and held the United States and its allies responsible for continuing the policy of investment in terrorism, warning that these policies and attempts to justify the practices of these terrorist organizations increase the risks of spreading extremist ideology, which represents a serious threat to the security and stability of Syria and the region.
