Astana- (ST)- Syria is participating in the 48th World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest, hosted by the capital of Kazakhstan, “Astana”, during the period from September 15 to 20, alongside Arab and international universities.
Dr. Ghaith Warqouzq, Vice President of Damascus University for Scientific Research and Postgraduate Studies, stated to SANA that Syria is participating with 4 teams from Damascus University, Tishreen University, the Syrian Virtual University, and the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology, out of 15 teams that qualified from the Arab region and North Africa for the global competition.
Warqouzaq pointed out that Damascus University has become a permanent participant in this global competition, due to the excellence of its students in programming, explaining that this competition is the most important in the world and it includes the elite of international universities and brings together university students from all over the world to compete in the field of programming and solve complex problems, wishing success to all participating Syrian teams.
The competition is attended by 142 teams representing 3,000 universities from 111 countries. Participants who have passed a multi-level selection process (local, national and regional) will compete for the title of the best solution to algorithmic problems in a 5-hour test to solve a set of problems, with the aim of finding a written, executable software solution in one of the programming languages approved in the competition.
