“On the Path of Prophecy” a collective painting exhibition in Damascus

On the occasion of Prophet Mohammad’s Birthday and the Islamic Unity Week, the Iranian Cultural Counselor in Syria and the Syrian Plastic Artists Union held an art exhibition of paintings titled “On the Path of Prophecy” at the Al-Shaab art gallery “People’s Hall” in Damascus.

The exhibition displayed a collection of artworks that express the values ​​of unity, love and peace called for by Prophet Mohammad.

The exhibition includes various works that reflect artistic creativity and contribute to spreading messages of love and harmony among peoples.

A number of Syrian and Iranian artists, and members of the House of Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association participated in  the exhibition.

Mustafa Zein Al-Abidin, the director of Media at the Iranian Cultural Councelor told “Syria Times” that this exhibition is held on the occasion of the Islamic Unity Week, which is held every year to consolidate Islamic unity among peoples and among all components of society to emphasize unity.

“The painting participating in the exhibition confirm and embody Islamic unity, in pictures or paintings that promote the concept of Islamic unity. The exhibition aims to enhance cultural and artistic awareness about the importance of Islamic unity, and is considered a platform for exchanging ideas and artistic visions between artists and different societies” he added.

Artist and calligrapher Ahmad Kamal presented fourteen calligraphy works, most of which were inspired by the Holy Quran.

Reem Qabtan, the head of the Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association, participated with two Arabic calligraphy  works using cheerful acrylic colors of yellow and pink and gold. She said that Arabic calligraphy is part of the heritage, but it also can be written in a contemporary way that is capable of renewal and development.

Participant artist Alaa Al-Ghabra displayed one  calligraphy work combining an ancient and contemporary letters in his style between the Bustan and Kufic letters.

In turn, Adham Fadi Al-Jaafari displayed two  Arabic calligraphic paintings : “ The first I introduced Al- Diwani letters while in the second I painted  al- Thuluth letters with a classical frame and pure abstraction” .

Engineer Maha Mahfouz, head of the Damascus branch of the Union of Fine Artists, stressed the necessity of reviving old earthy colors and renewing them through some works.
