The Syrian writer and journalist Hassan M. Yousef has been recently chosen to be one of the hundred Arab intellectual figures that are most influential in the world in 2014. This classification was made by the Arabian Business Magazine’s list which issued in Dubai in Arabic and English.
“This choice is considered a clear recognition of the literary role of Syrian intellectuals and I feel that it is more important because I am still living in Syria. I will stay in my beloved country wishing that it would return as it was before. Syria is our sick mother and sons should not abandon their mother in these hard circumstances.” Yousef said.
In addition, Yousef thanked all those who suggest the inclusion of his name in this list, despite the fact that the Syrian Journalists were treated unfairly during the Syrian crisis. He added that this selection is a tribute to his rich literary career in media domain, noting that his efforts were not in vain.
“Really the most important honor for me is when people read my works and contact me to discuss any article or idea and then I’ll be happy to hear their opinions. Most importantly, I wish that Syria recover soon and the Syrian thinkers return to be more present in the world.” The writer Yousef added.
It is worth mentioning that the magazine chose the greatest hundred influential Arab personalities in the world over the last ten years because they have made a difference not only in their communities, but also in the whole world. The Arabian Business Magazine’s list included several names from Syria such as the two plastic artists Mustafa Ali and Safwan Dahoul.
