The 7th  BRICS Media Summit kicked off in Moscow

MOSCOW, SEP.14, (ST)-Today, the activities of the 7th  BRICS Media Summit kicked off in the Russian capital, Moscow ,in the presence of heads and representatives of 60 media organizations from 45 countries, including the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The participants in the summit, which is hosted by Russian news agency TASS, will discuss the role of the media in a multipolar world, issues of media security in the modern world, and technical aspects of information and news exchange.

In a televised speech during the summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the BRICS group is considered a unique mechanism for multifaceted cooperation, noting that within the framework of the organization fruitful cooperation is being carried out between countries representing different civilizations and geographical regions.

“We note with satisfaction the growing interest of most countries in the world in this group, which initially included five countries, and the number of its members has now reached ten, and more than thirty countries have submitted applications to join it,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.

He clarified that the Russian chairmanship of the BRICS group this year is taking place under the motto “Consolidating multilateralism for comprehensive development and security.”

Lavrov indicated that in view of the historical inevitability of the emergence of a multipolar global system, the demand for the professional work of journalists and media professionals is increasing, regardless of their type of activity.

He also asserted that media cooperation within the BRICS framework is being consolidated and strengthened, and media exchanges and cooperation in general are intensifying between the member countries of the aforementioned organization.
