Al-Mikdad to Manzi: We welcome working with UN agencies and facilitating their work

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government Faisal al-Mikdad, stressed that Syria welcomes working with UN agencies and facilitates their work in a way that serves their mission, reiterating keenness to deliver all types of aid to the citizens throughout the Syrian territory.

Minister al-Mikdad pointed out today during his meeting with Barbara Manzi, Regional Director for Arab States at the United Nations Development Coordination Office, that Syria has been a model for economic development before the terrorist war that was imposed on it.
He explained that Syria welcomes working with UN agencies and facilitates their work in a way that serves their mission, especially in the current phase of early recovery and the transition from providing humanitarian aid only to supporting economic recovery.
Minister al-Mikdad stressed that Syria is keen to deliver all types of aid to all citizens throughout Syrian territory for the dignified return of all those displaced by the forces of terrorism. This has been expressed through a package of presidential decrees and government procedures.
The Minister pointed out that there are those who are deliberately prolonging the crisis and obstructing recovery, as the American occupation forces and their agents are committing blatant thefts of Syrian oil and wheat resources, in addition to the occupation forces’ practices and cutting off water to the residents of Hasaka Governorate.
Minister Al-Mikdad stressed the need to stop the war of human extermination carried out by “Israel” in the occupied Palestinian territories.
For her part, Manzi stressed the United Nations’ keenness to make additional efforts to meet the growing needs in Syria and the region, and that efforts should focus in the next stage on providing what is best, which contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people away from the politicization that some are trying to impose.
The UN official pointed out that the practices taking place in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank have complicated the situation in the region and the efforts of the United Nations in the ME.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister Ambassador Ayman Raad.
