Arab League Ministerial Council decides to start taking measures to freeze “Israel’s” membership in UN General Assembly

Concluding its 162nd regular session, which was held at the ministerial level in Cairo on Tuesday, the Arab League Council adopted one decision on developments of the Palestinian cause and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

According to the decision, the AL Council  tasked the Arab group in New York with initiating steps to freeze “Israel’s” membership in the United Nations General Assembly, due to its failure to abide by the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter, and due to its threat to international peace and security, calling for mobilizing the necessary international support for this step.

The decision also urged the International Court of Justice to expedite the ruling on the subject of the lawsuit filed by the Republic of South Africa against “Israel.”

The Council affirmed its categorical rejection of the Israeli occupation entity’s schemes and attempts to impose control over any part of Gaza Strip, and demanded the complete withdrawal of “Israel” from Gaza Strip, the opening of Rafah crossing according to the rules in force and the removal of all obstacles to safe, sufficient and rapid humanitarian access.

The decision also condemned Israel’s crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip which has been continuous for more than 11 months.

It expressed the Arab League Council’s condemnation of the aggressive policies and measures taken by the Israeli occupation government to annex the occupied West Bank lands and escalate colonial settlement expansion.

The decision also condemned the persistence of the Israeli occupation in implementing its policies of annexation and settlement building in the occupied Syrian Golan.

The decision strongly condemned the brutal and escalating Israeli aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic and against its sovereignty, which constitutes crimes and serious violations of international law.
