“Ramita Tourism” Festival held in Lattakia

“Holding different kinds of artistic exhibitions and other cultural activities contribute to reviving cultural life and tourism in Syria. They form an important platform for participants to promote their cultural and tourist products, reactivate the tourism movement and attract tourists from inside the country and abroad,” Director of Tourism in Lattakia governorate Fadi Nizam said on the sidelines of the opening of Ramita Tourism Festival at Al-Assad Sports City in the governorate.
The event , which will continue until the 13th of this month, is held by the Tourism Directorate in Lattakia in cooperation with the Lattakia Governorate and the General Sports Federation.
The festival included exhibitions of flowers and outdoor plastic arts, an exhibition of traditional handicrafts, engraving and wood , recycling arts, accessories, and products of small and medium-sized enterprises, soap and detergent products, food products such as grains, thyme, medicinal plants, and honey of all kinds.
It also included outdoor cinema shows and children’s plays, in addition to sports and artistic performances.
Nizam indicated that holding this festival in this place restores glory to a city that hosted the Mediterranean Olympic Games in 1987 and after that the ” Al-Mahabah Festival,  because these events carry beautiful memories for the Syrian people and the Arabs.
He stressed that the festival is a tourist attraction as it includes many cultural, artistic and sport activities, exhibitions and almost daily parties that bring happiness due to the return of festivals and the return of life to this city.
At the pavilion of the of Martyrs’ Sons Association , Syria Times e-newspaper interviewed Khadija Ali Al-Saleh, the mother of the two martyrs Yasser and Ali Taleb, who said: ” Syrian women, especially mothers love life, and are steadfast, dedicated and always ready to give their children and others.”
She said “the martyrdom of my sons was an incentive for me to be more steadfast and keen to overcome sadness through my work and to continue my children’s lofty message to protect our country and contribute to its reconstruction”.
Her exhibits included handmade woolen clothing pieces, tablecloths, accessories, wooden decorative panels and other artistic pieces that shed light on our deep-rooted heritage.
The participation of Mrs. Mayada Abbas, mother of the martyr Suleiman Al-Jurdi, came through presenting the products of her own project, which included detergents and cosmetics.
She told Syria Times  “We, as mothers of martyrs, are proud of our participation in the exhibition to prove to the world that Syrian women, despite the difficult circumstances they faced during the war on Syria and despite the martyrdom of their sons, are still capable of strengthening their presence and doing anything to enhance their positive role in supporting their country.”
One of the people with special needs, Ola Kazan, daughter of the martyr Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Kazan, had an effective and distinguished participation at ” the Ramita Tourism Festival” through her project entitled ” Whispers of Angels” for manufacturing  scented candles.
She confirmed to Syria Times that her disability did not prevent her from following the lofty message of her father who irrigated the soil of his land with his pure blood.
She said: “I tried to invest my pain and turn it into a project of hope, success, and optimism, and to prove to the world that the Syrian people, of all sects, are capable of rising again and participating in the recovery of their country, despite all the obstacles and the unjust siege imposed on their country.
Ola indicated that this is the third exhibition that she participated in to market her products and expand her project, in which she relied on herself  and learned how to make the products from social media websites.
Within the framework of the Ramita Tourism festival’s activities the “A child’s passion”  exhibition was held by the “Da Vinci Center” for Fine Arts, managed by the artist Rana Esber.
It is considered the first exhibition for children and adolescents by the center with the participation of 15 children between the ages of 7 and 13.
Artist Esber expressed  in a statement to Syria Times newspaper that “Art is a sublime and purposeful message. The language of art is a clear and simple one that can reach the whole world and is the only language that the whole world understands”.
The children’s paintings expressed several school art and their topics varied between popular fashion, natural landscapes and portraits expressing their innocent feelings.
The artist Esber expressed the importance of the children’s participation in such activities to encourage them and support their talents.
