Al-Mikdad holds talks with Arab officials on the sidelines of the 162nd session of the Arab League Ministerial Council

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government Faisal Al-Mikdad on Tuesday met with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and the UAE Minister of State, Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar.
The meeting came during Al-Mikdad’s participation in the opening of the 162nd session of the League of Arab States council at the ministerial level.
Al-Mikdad reviewed with Aboul Gheit the topics listed on the agenda of this meeting, which will focus on the tragic developments in the occupied Palestinian territories resulting from the continued brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and the war crimes and genocide it is committing against them. The agenda will also focus on the situation in the Arab region and the challenges facing a number of its countries.
Al-Mikdad expressed Syria’s interest in developing the Arab League work, which is based on consensus among the member states of the League, and which contributes to addressing the problems and challenges facing the Arab world.
The two sides’ views were identical regarding the importance of activating and strengthening joint Arab action, and joining efforts to confront the difficult and complex situations that the Arab region is going through.
 Minister Al-Mikdad also met with UAE Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar, and discussed with him enhancing cooperation between the two brotherly countries in a number of fields, in addition to the topics included on the agenda of the current session of the ministerial meeting, as well as coordination between the two countries in a way that serves joint Arab action.
The two meetings were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying Al-Mikdad.
