Terrorist Attacks kill Two Civilians, Wound 24 Others in Damascus and countryside

PROVINCES,(ST)_Terrorists have killed at least 2 civilians and wounded 24 others  by mortar attacks on several areas in Damascus and  countryside, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency quoted a police command source in Damascus as citing that two civilians were martyred and 5 others wounded when a shell-fired by terrorists- landed on the Opera House in Omayyad square.

Three more civilians were wounded when two shells hit al-Ghassani area in al-Abbaseyen district in the capital [Damascus], the source added, noting that 9 cars in addition to a house were damaged at the scene.

Culture Minister visits the wounded

The agency pointed out that Culture Minister, Lubana M’shaweh, visited those who were wounded by the mortar attack on the Opera house.

“The mortar attack on the Opera house is a terrorist act targeting innocent students at the Higher Institute of  Arts and the Higher Institute of Music. It targets youths and the al-Assad House for Culture and Arts which has a key role in the process of education and enlightenment,” the minister told reporters at ‘al-Mowasa’ Hospital.

She wished the wounded speed recovery.

Al-Dwel’a and Bab Sharqi areas

More mortar attacks struck al-Dwel’a and Bab Sharqi areas in the same province [Damascus] where at least 10 civilians were wounded.  

The shells caused damages to the al-Zayton Church and a car in Bab Sharqi area, the source said.

Jaramana and Daheyet Harasta areas

While in Damascus countryside, about 6 civilians were wounded by mortar attacks on Jaramana city and Daheyet Harasta area.

“Five shells hit the two areas,” a source at police command told the agency, adding that a civilian was wounded when a terrorist sniper targeted a car near the building of water resources in Harasta area.

Yesterday, about 3 civilians were martyred and 39 others  wounded when shells hit Jaramana city and Daheyet Harasta areas.
