Saudi Embassy in Damascus officially starts its activities in Syria

The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Damascus Monday evening announced that it officially started its activities in the Syrian Arab Republic with the aim of supporting and enhancing bilateral relations.

In a speech during a reception held by the embassy at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, the Saudi Chargé d’Affaires Abdullah Al-Harees stressed the Saudi embassy’s keenness to spare no effort as to strengthen bilateral relations between his country and Syria, considering the reopening of the embassy an important moment in the history of relations between the two brotherly countries.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Raad stressed in a statement to a SANA reporter the depth of fraternal relations and social ties between Syria and Saudi Arabia, pointing out that through the reopening of the Saudi embassy in Damascus and before that the opening of the Syrian embassy in Riyadh, relations between the two countries will be activated in order to enhance joint Arab action in the interest of the peoples of the region.

Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riad Abbas explained that the reopening of the embassy in Syria represents the beginning of a new phase of joint cooperation in the interest of the two peoples and for the prosperity and stability of Syria, Saudi Arabia and the Arab countries.

 

The Palestinian Ambassador in Damascus Samir Al-Rifai stated that the reopening of the Saudi embassy in Damascus is a very important step towards the restoration of Arab relations, expressing the Palestinians’ happiness with the return of diplomatic relations and channels between Syria and Saudi Arabia, especially since the Palestinian people are the most affected by the Arab division and are paying a high price because of it.

Bahrain’s Ambassador to Damascus Wahid Mubarak Sayyar pointed out in a similar statement that Syrian-Saudi relations are very old, like the Syrian-Arab relations, noting that the reopening of the embassy plays a role in strengthening joint Arab action, in addition to standing by the Syrian people in overcoming the ordeal they have been suffering from for more than a decade.

The Chargé d’Affairs of the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus Yassin Al-Hajimi confirmed that the reopening of the embassy constitutes a victory for Syrian policy and its return to the Arab fold, considering that the reopening of embassies in Damascus means Syria’s return to its Arab position and is evidence of the strength of the political decision and victory over the enemies who tried to isolate it from its Arab society and surroundings.
