UNRWA Basic Education school reopened in Handarat camp in Aleppo to encourage people displaced from this area to return

On the occasion of the start of the new school year, Aleppo Governorate opened the “Al-Zeib” Basic Education School, affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), in the Ein al-Tal “Handarat” camp area in Aleppo.
The acting Director of Education, Ali Othman, explained that the school currently includes 100 students. He noted that its opening will contribute to restoring hope to the people of Ein al-Tal and encouraging them to return to their area after they were previously displaced due to attacks by terrorist organizations.
Dr. Abdul Qader Dawalibi, member of the Executive Office in charge of Aleppo Governorate, spoke about the governorate’s efforts to return the educational process to all parts of the governorate and provide all necessary support for it, and about the combined efforts of all supporting institutions.
Amanya Michael, Director of UNRWA Affairs in Syria praised the efforts made by the Syrian government in providing and facilitating the rehabilitation of this school and to accommodate the students of the camp. He indicated that the inauguration of this UNRWA school was supported by the government and people of Japan.
The speech of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Syria was delivered by Kayo Oda, Head of Donor Relations and Project Support, who explained that her country’s government funded the inauguration of this school out of its belief in the importance of providing educational opportunities to build the future and achieve prosperity for the rising generations.
The opening ceremony was attended by Aleppo Governor Hussein Diab, Secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party Branch Ahmed Mansour, and representatives of UNRWA.
