Al-Mikdad to Syrian businessmen in Egypt: Government is keen on strengthening national economy

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government Faisal Al-Mikdad has stressed that the Syrian government is making significant efforts to strengthen the national economy and achieve a significant improvement in the economic situation in Syria through a number of actions aimed at supporting local production and developing business environment.

His remarks came during a dialogue meeting with a number of Syrian businessmen residing in Egypt.

Al-Mikdad is in Egypt to participate in the 162nd Session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level.

Mikdad talked about the directives of President Bashar Al-Assad to the government on the need to review the economic policies aimed at supporting recovery and development process, and to prepare strategies that contribute to supporting the production process in a sustainable manner.

Al-Mikdad noted the enhancement of investment opportunities and partnerships with the private sector, especially in the fields of industry and energy.

He also listened to the businessmen’s proposals on ways to attract Syrian investors, and to integrate the investment projects they are carrying out in Egypt with the revival of their projects in Syria.

For their part, the businessmen praised the economic strategies recently introduced by President Al-Assad on various national occasions, and they stressed that theses strategies will be an integral part of the economic reform process whose goals have been set by President al-Assad.
