PSL: Musfat Banias beat Majd

DAMASCUS,(ST)- Musfat Banias, newcomer to 1stdivision, have defeated Majd 1-0 in the men’s Professional Soccer League 3rd round 2nd leg at the Faiha sports complex in Damascus.

In the same round, Shurta drew with Hurria 1-1 and Omaya drew with Nawaeer 1-1.

In details, Musfat Banias snatched the three precious points from Majd as they beat them 1-0 only to move atop of Group B with a tally of 18 points while Majd remained in fourth place with a tally of 15 points.

In the said match, Musfat Banias presented a good performance as they blocked tightly their defensive line and depended on a counterattack  where they succeeded to score the winning goal through Ahmad Mar’ash.

In their turn, Majd relentlessly tried to Amend the score but to no avail.

In another action, Hurria held Shurta to 1-1 draw at the Muhafaza stadium in Damascus.

Shurta squandered so many clear chances with the best coming in the 34th minute but former international Mahmoud Khadouj ‘s fierce shot went wide of the post.

Early in the second half, Hurria’s striker Ahmad Maksour put his side in the lead with a close-range shot.

Ten minutes later, Shurta notched up the equalizer with a European-style goal scored by Khalid Issa.

With this disappointed result, Shurta slipped to the second place with a tally of 17 points while Hurria remained at the bottom of the group with only nine points.

The third match ended in a1- draw between Omaya and Nawaeer  who lifted their taslly to 12 points and remained in sixth place ahead of Nawaeer .
