Opening the Honorary Consulate of Pakistan in Homs

Homs (ST) – The building of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Pakistan was opened today in Al-Inshaat neighborhood in the city of Homs amidst in the presence of diplomats, officials and economic personalities.

On this occasion, a ceremony was held at the Safir Hotel in Homs, which included raising the national flags of both the Syrian Arab Republic and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the Consulate building accompanied by the tunes of the national anthems of the two countries.

In his speech, the representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Tammam Suleiman, stressed the depth of cooperation and close friendship between Syria and the Republic of Pakistan, noting that the honorary consul in Homs was approved by the two countries, which supports the strengthening of bilateral relations and increases diplomatic activity and cooperation between them.

In a statement to the media following the opening, Ambassador Suleiman expressed Syria’s appreciation for Pakistan’s political positions and support for Arab issues, and the continued presence of the Pakistani embassy in Damascus, despite the events that the country has gone through, noting the importance of Homs, its geographical location and its vast area, as the consulate seeks to create job opportunities, especially in the field of technology and information technology.

In his speech, the Ambassador of the Republic of Pakistan, Shahid Akhtar, expressed his hope that Syria would regain its ancient glory, with the determination of its people and their insistence on rising and rebuilding, referring to the historical status of Homs with its immortal monuments.

Akhtar referred to the historical relations that bind the two countries, and the mutual support in international forums towards issues of interest to both friendly sides, noting the confidence in the Honorary Consul in Homs and his ability to enhance cooperation in all fields.

The Honorary Consul of Pakistan in Homs, Labib Al-Ikhwan, stressed that the opening of the consulate building in Homs is not a symbolic measure, but rather an expression of the depth of cooperation relations between the two countries, indicating the importance of continuing cooperation in the economic fields, especially the information technology sector, in which Pakistan occupies an advanced position globally.

During the ceremony, commemorative gifts were exchanged between the representatives of the two countries, and a promo about the Republic of Pakistan was screened.
