Lavrov: US occupation of Syrian lands affects the situation in the country

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that the American occupation of Syrian lands directly affects the situation there, as the natural resources of the Syrian people are being stolen and unjust sanctions are being imposed on them.

Lavrov said  in an interview with Russia Today channel that the Americans are not solving any problems on the ground and are not fighting terrorism. On the contrary, the Syrian people’s wealth of oil, gas and agricultural crops is being plundered, sold and used to destabilize and support militias affiliated to them.

He also indicated that the unjust American and Western sanctions on the Syrian people are making the situation worse, stressing that his country continues to provide its support to the Syrian people’s efforts to overcome the situation that the United States has tried to impose on them since 2011.

Russian foreign minister noted the Russian-Syrian strong relations as both countries seek to find solutions to the remaining problems resulting from the terrorist war on Syria, stressing Russia’s commitment to stand by Syria in a way that serves the interests of the Syrian people.

On the Palestinian issue, Lavrov stressed that the Israeli occupation entity cannot eliminate the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance, which are part of the peoples of the two countries, and it must search for alternatives to a peaceful solution without the use of force.
