Pezeshkian: Iran’s policy is based on peace, but if something is imposed on us, our approach will be changed

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that Iran’s policy is to interact and expand relations with all countries of the world.

Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Pezeshkian as saying during a phone call he received from Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store: “Our policy is based on peace and friendship, avoiding tension and conflict, interacting and expanding relations with all countries of the world, but if something else is imposed on us through pressure and sanctions, our approach will be changed,” stressing that his country condemns any aggression anywhere, and is ready to cooperate to stop war, violence and insecurity in the world.

Pezeshkian criticized the double standards of the United States and some Western countries in the field of human rights and democracy, saying: “The United States and some Western countries accuse other countries of violating human rights due to the mistreatment of a person, but in the face of the bloodshed of tens of thousands of innocent women, children, youth and adults in Gaza and the bombing of civilian areas, schools and hospitals in this region by the Zionist regime, they not only remained silent, but also provided support to this regime with money and weapons,” calling on the Norwegian government, which supports the Palestinian people, to work closely with other European countries to immediately stop the crimes of the Zionists against the oppressed people of Gaza.

Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s interest in expanding interaction with Norway, and that the bilateral talks would lead to strengthening and consolidating relations between the two countries, as well as reaching common solutions to establish peace, stability and increase security in the world.

For his part, the Norwegian Prime Minister expressed his concern about the increasing tensions in the region, especially the Israeli occupation attacks against the people of Gaza, and said: “We have condemned the Israeli war on Gaza and its disastrous consequences. Along with Ireland and Spain, Norway was one of the first European countries to recognize the right of the Palestinian people to form their independent state. Norway hopes that these bitter and unfortunate events will end as soon as possible.”
