Arab Writers Union in Syria Accredited By China-Arab Association of Intellectual Institutions

Damascus-(ST)- The Arab Writers Union in Syria received an invitation from the China-Arab Center for Reform and Development Studies to attend the first meeting of the China-Arab Association of Think Tanks scheduled to be held in Shanghai on September 26-27.

China and the Arab League decided to establish the China-Arab Think Tank Association as an official platform for exchanges between Chinese and Arab think tanks, and to make every effort to provide intellectual support for building a China-Arab community with a shared future toward a new era.

The meeting will be attended by officials from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Shanghai Municipal Government and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, as well as the first batch of think tanks of the League and important think tanks in Arab countries.

The meeting is scheduled to raise many important topics and themes, most notably adherence to reform and innovation, advancing development in China and Arab countries, mutual benefit and enhancing openness and high-level cooperation, strengthening the construction of the association and supporting cultural communication and rapprochement of peoples.

The Chinese Embassy in Damascus nominated the Arab Writers Union as an intellectual institution to join the association, where the President of the Union, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hawrani, and the Executive Office of the Union expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Chinese Ambassador in Damascus, Shi Hongwei, and the Syrian, Arab and Chinese diplomatic and cultural institutions and bodies for contributing to this step.
