Damascus –(ST)- Under the patronage of President Bashar al-Assad, Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Persons Affairs, in cooperation with the Political Administration, held a ceremony to honor excelled students of the basic education and high school certificate for the year 2024, who are children of martyrs and wounded persons with total disability.
President Al-Assad was represented in the ceremony by General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Minister of Defense.
General Abbas made a speech in which he conveyed the President’s congratulations to the excelled students and his heartfelt wishes for their continued health, success and excellence in all academic stages and various aspects of their lives.
General Abbas pointed out that this honoring ceremony has great meanings as it indicates the direct interest of the leader of the nation in the issues of the sons of martyrs and wounded and it comes in appreciation of the importance of the academic achievement and excellence the students have achieved during their academic career, noting that today they confirm their insistence on continuing the approach of their fathers through diligence, perseverance and excellence, thus embodying another image of defending the nation and raising its flag high in the sky of glory and pride.
In his speech, General Abbas stressed the importance of science and knowledge, calling on outstanding students to keep up with the latest developments in science, knowledge and scientific research, based on the fact that science, in its comprehensive concept, constitutes the strongest foundation for building the nation, its progress and prosperity.
Then, a group of talents from the Damascus Governorate Club presented several artistic segments, and during the ceremony, outstanding students were honored and certificates were distributed.
In turn, the students and their families praised the care and attention provided by the President to encourage their excellence and distinction, stressing that success is the greatest joy that makes them feel the greatness of their fathers’ sacrifices.
