Al-Mikdad: Embassies and diplomatic missions need to be further engaged in economic diplomacy

Damascus, (ST) – The regular meeting of ambassadors and heads of Syrian diplomatic missions around the world was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Faisal Al-Mikdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government, opened the meeting with a speech in which he spoke about the work of the ministry and its diplomatic missions abroad and the difficulties and challenges facing this work.

He stressed the importance of the development of the ministry’s work mechanisms, which ensures better performance and raises the efficiency of diplomatic work and enhances the ability of the ministry and its diplomatic missions abroad to perform their tasks in the best possible way.

Al-Mikdad also stressed the necessity of enabling embassies and diplomatic missions to engage more in economic diplomacy, which has become a fundamental pillar of the ministry’s work, and an effective connection with various state agencies concerned in this field.

He referred to the successes achieved by the ministry politically and diplomatically, despite the great challenges and difficulties that Syria faced. He indicated the important role of brothers, friends, and allies who stood by Syria.

Minister Al-Mikdad also highlighted the challenges facing our Arab region, most notably the suffering of the Palestinian people from the crimes and genocide committed by the Zionist entity against them, exploiting the unlimited support provided by the United States of America.

Minister Al-Mikdad praised the steadfastness of the Arab people in south Lebanon and their valiant confrontation of the repeated Zionist attacks on their lands.

Al-Mikdad stressed that Syria places at the forefront of its priorities the situation of the people in the occupied Syrian Golan and stands by them, and affirms the inherent right to restore the Golan to its motherland, Syria.

Al-Mikdad praised the struggle and sacrifices of the people in the Syrian Golan.

He also stressed that Syria will continue with all determination and resolve to work to end the illegitimate American military presence in northeastern Syria and the Turkish presence in northwestern Syria.

Minister Al-Mikdad also stressed Syria’s continued adherence to its national identity, the independence of its national decision, and its principled positions towards its causes, despite any challenges and difficulties imposed by the colonial powers to dissuade it from this firm position.

The activities of the periodic meeting will continue until the twenty-ninth of this month, and will include a series of meetings with a number of concerned ministers and officials, and workshops that will address priority political issues related to the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
