Mansour: Every time the world pushes for a ceasefire in Gaza, “Israel” responds with a massacre

New York, (ST) –  Palestine’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour stressed that every time the world pushes for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, “Israel” responds with a massacre, noting that the international community bears responsibility for its continued impunity and must take measures to force it to implement its decisions.

Wafa News Agency quoted Mansour as saying in a speech before the Security Council last night: It is no coincidence that every time the world pushes for a ceasefire, “Israel” responds with a massacre like the one that took place in the Tabeen School in the Gaza Strip, noting that it is sending a message that is uglier than the previous one, that it will not stop.

Mansour explained that his country welcomes the international consensus on calling for an immediate ceasefire, but “Israel” rejects this, and this must end, as it cannot continue to challenge the international community, which has all the tools that enable it to turn its decisions into reality if it has the political will.

Mansour continued: While we meet here for the tenth consecutive month, “Israel” continues to claim lives, and does everything possible to spread the fires of conflict in the Middle East, and tear up the Geneva Conventions in Gaza, while tearing up every rule established in the humanitarian field.

He added that “Israel” does not care about your condemnations, ignores your decisions, and does not even listen to your discussions, and you, as countries, and the Security Council bear responsibility for the impunity it enjoys.

Mansour pointed out that Palestine will go to the United Nations General Assembly in the coming days to ensure that it is fulfilling its responsibility under its charter, and to ensure that the decisions of the highest court in the world, the International Court of Justice, are translated into political will and concrete measures implemented by the United Nations and its member states, to end these acts as soon as possible.
