Sweida – Natural Museum

IN cooperation with the Radio and Television Center in Sweida, the Directorate of tourism in the governorate has organized a workshop on popular tourism and its role in enhancing economy.

The media workshop concentrated on reactivating tourism in Sweida through rehabilitating the infrastructure and supporting the role of the governmental parties being played in developing the popular tourism.

Member of the governorate’s executive council Bashar Nassar spoke during the workshop about the importance of reinvigorating tourism through developing the touristic sites in Sweida, namely the natural caves and forests . He also called for developing touristic product in the city.

MR.Nassar also gave an explanation on the importance of organizing festivals and workshops on educational tourism especially in Daher Al Jabal district which is the biggest agricultural project in the Middle East , saying that Sweida is considered as a natural museum according to the United Nation’s standards .

The workshop also included a briefing on the Directorate forthcoming plans with respect to setting up  three popular markets in Sweida city  in order to distribute special panels on the touristic establishments in the city.

For his part , the director of Tourism in Sweida, Yaaroub Arbeid spoke about the governorate’s touristic elements and its role in boosting the national economy , citing the lovely social nature of citizens of Sweida.

”The process of developing tourism in the city is dependent on cooperation between the public and private sectors , “the director said , calling for the rehabilitation of historical religious cites owing to their role in encouraging popular tourism.

He also called on the participants in the workshop for execute touristic investments in the city , namely in the villages of Aom Roman , Qanawat and Ariqa in addition to Salkhad district because of the natural and vital diversity of these places..

He also called for preparing memorandum between the two ministries of tourism and Agriculture on encouraging touristic investments in Sweida through offering an all-out support in this regard.

On their part, the participants in the workshop called for establishing a special museum for traditional art crafts in the governorate. They also asked for enhancing the role of the non- governmental associations to raise the touristic awareness in the governorate.
