The activities of the Wadi Conference for Syrian Doctors at Home and Abroad kick-started today, with the participation of doctors from various specialties from Syria, the US, South America, France, Britain, Spain and Germany, at the Wadi International Private University in Wadi al-Nadara area in Homs Governorate.
In his speech, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of the wide participation of doctors from Syria and expatriation countries in this important scientific medical conference. He also stressed the need to exchange new theoretical medical knowledge and research and their application, pointing to the role of universities in holding such distinguished conferences that contribute to the development of scientific research.
Ibrahim pointed out that the ministry is working to improve the quality of education and scientific research conditions, build creative capabilities and graduate distinguished competencies that are compatible with the needs of the labor market and economic and social development.
Dr. Shafiq Basil, chairman of Al-Wadi International Private University, stated that the conference is a prominent station recorded on the map of medical conferences, as the University, through the conference, brings together Syrian doctors inside and outside the country and is a scientific platform for exchanging expertise, information and medical developments in the world, whether in person or virtually, explaining that the conference addressed, for the first time, Artificial Intelligence in medical and therapeutic practices, in addition to many other specialties.
In the speech of expatriates, Dr. Hassan Salloum from America expressed the importance of the conference, which has become an annual scientific tradition awaited by doctors to enhance scientific and social acquaintance and exchange medical expertise, each in his specialty, pointing to the excellence of Syrian doctors inside the country and abroad.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Tamiri, representative of the Ministry of Health, stressed in a speech that the conference is a permanent opportunity for doctors and workers in the health sector and medical services to communicate to develop their performance, which is positively reflected in the health reality in Syria, pointing to the ministry’s keenness to achieve effective partnership with various parties and with doctors inside and outside Syria to keep pace with developments.
In his speech, Dr. Ghassan Fandi, Head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, noted the importance of the conference, which brings together doctors from Syria and abroad in various specialties to exchange information and scientific and research expertise that contribute to developing the Syrian health map.
Tariq Kakhia, Head of the Student Union Branch at Al-Wadi University, said: The participation of students in the conference is extremely important as it provides their information and specialties with the most important scientific developments and provides an opportunity for postgraduate students “masters and doctorates” to communicate with doctors abroad and exchange with them information, which contributes to raising the level of graduates.
The conference activities continue for two days with the participation of 40 male and female researchers.
