DAMASCUS, (ST)_Foreign-backed terrorist group have fired shells on a makeshift shelter and al-Nidal stadium in Damascus, killing two children and leaving 11 others wounded, according to the official news agency.
The agency said today that two shells fired by terrorists hit a makeshift shelter in ‘al-Mo’atasem’ School and al-Nidal stadium in al-Zahera al-Qadema in Damascus where two children, aged five and six, were martyred and 11 others wounded.
A medical source at ‘Damascus’ Hospital said that the two martyred children were in a critical condition when they were admitted to the hospital, noting that the other 11 children are being treated.
Two days ago, a girl was martyred by terrorists’ mortar attack on a makeshift shelter in ‘Yasin Ferjani’ School in Karm al-Shami quarter in Homs city.
The same shelter was targeted by terrorist groups four days ago where 4 civilians were martyred and 19 others wounded by mortar fire.
Social Affairs Minister, who also chairs the Higher Relief Committee, Dr. Kinda al-Shammat said that the shelters houses displaced children, women and elderly people who have fled their homes because of terrorist groups’ attacks.
She noted that the government opened the shelters to protect the dignity of the displaced persons and provide them with aid.
“But terrorist groups are hunting the innocent persons and perpetrate brutal crimes against them,” Dr. al-Shammat said.
