Moscow Demands That Kiev Secure Work Of Russian Missions In Ukraine – Foreign Ministry

Moscow has urged the regime in Kiev to secure normal operation and safeguard Russia’s official missions in Ukraine. A statement to this effect was made Monday by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russia demands that the Ukrainian leadership take measures to ensure the security of all of Russia’s representative offices in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“The recent raid became possible because the new Ukrainian leadership has lost control over the situation in Kiev and due to the fact that an atmosphere of legal nihilism and all-permissiveness has taken hold in Ukraine.

We demand that Kiev leadership take effective measures to ensure the security and normal functioning of all of the Russian Federation’s official representative offices in Ukraine,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website in the wake of Ukrainian ultranationalist attempt to break into the headquarters of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation in Kiev.

Russian Defense Minister visits Crimea to inspect troops, military facilities

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Monday visited Crimea to inspect troops and military facilities, the first senior Russian official to travel to the Black Sea peninsula since Moscow absorbed the region into its territory, Russian news agencies said.

Shoigu, one of the closest allies of President Vladimir Putin in the cabinet, inspected the Russian Black Sea Fleet based in the port of Sevastopol and also met Crimea’s Prime Minister Sergei Aksyonov, the reports said.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held a working meeting with the former members of Ukrainian Armed Forces – base and institution commanders who expressed a wish to continue military service in the Russian Army. Everyone who has expressed such a wish will enjoy all the social rights granted by Russian legislation and will have an opportunity to do military service in any military district and naval fleet of the Russian Armed Forces, Shoigu said.
