“Lush Shadows” exhibition depicts Woman and nature

The visual arts exhibition entitled “Lush Shadows”, in which a group of distinguished artists participated, was held at the Arab Cultural Center in Kafr Sousa in Damascus.

28 artists displayed their creative paintings of diverse sizes, which harmonized with their symbolism and diversity in embodying the lush shadows between the pictures of nature and women in the most sublime images of giving, love and beauty.

Participant artist Ghina Al-Saqa Amini, a visual artist, who is displaying three paintings in this exhibition, said “my paintings depict nature in my own style, whoch close to impressionism.. I tried to express the feelings inside me through colors that express strength. At the same time, my paintings have calm colors for balance and they focus on nature as I see it”.

Sariha Shaheen, the exhibition organizer,  told Syriatimes that the aim of holding this collective exhibition is to exchange experiences and expertise among the artists beside displaying these beautiful drawing to the people.

The title of the exhibition symbolize nature and women, so most of the paintings are about these two topics, she said.

“I displayed 18 paintings from the expressionist school and I used acrylic through which I depict the sad and tired woman who lost her children, the miserable woman who waits the absent. My paintings are about the faces of tired women, but at the same time I expressed hope in them. The paintings reflect what I feel”, Shaheen explained.

For her part, Nisreen Hammad displayed  three paintings that also depicted women. The  drawings embodied the strength, daily suffering, pain, dreams and fertility of the woman.

“I express my inner feeling through drawing with  my fingers instead of brush  using oil colors”, Nisreen said.

“I used orange and blue colors to reflect life, optimism and happiness. Through my participation in this exhibition I want to get people acquainted with my drawings and to gain more experience through contacts with other artists”, she added.

Another participant, Nahed Ferieh, displayed seven diverse oil paintings relating to surrealism and expressionism school. Each painting reflects the oriental woman in her daily life and the key in her paintings is a symbol of maturity and hope

She aims from her participation in this event at exchanging experience with diverse generations of artists and at introducing her artworks to people.
